Membership Fundraising Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Membership Fundraising, the Membership Fundraising Assistant will assist with our online and offline direct response fundraising program to raise unrestricted revenue from National Trust donors.

Duties

  • Provides programmatic assistance for an integrated direct mail giving program that raises revenue through cost effective new donor acquisition strategies, house or special appeals, renewals, and other campaigns, both online and offline, that will attract, cultivate, retain, and upgrade National Trust donors in support of overall Annual Giving engagement and revenue goals.
  • Provides day-to-day programmatic supportffor ongoing direct mail and digital campaigns; helps consolidate and edit staff comments on copy and design for review by the manager; helps traffick all materials, and secures approvals as directed by the manager in order to meet strict production schedules.
  • Helps maintain and assists in the adherence to the annual mail production calendar.
  • Works with creative and production teams to obtain photographs, resource materials, copyright, and credit information for direct mail programs in a timely fashion to meet strict production deadlines.
  • Maintains direct mail samples and project files for Manager, as requested.
  • Assists in the compilation of the Annual Giving departmentís reporting to ensure that revenue and expense tracking is accurate and timely.
  • Works closely with the Data and Operations team to ensure data for the direct response program is accurate and up to date.
  • As assigned by the manager, obtain regular benchmark reports, from our vendors, on all fundraising programs for senior staff to ensure programs are on course to meet fundraising goals.
  • Continually enhances skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 4 years of college or equivalent educational/work experience. Experience supporting direct response fundraising and membership, including experience with helping coordinate projects, preferably in a national-level non-profit setting.
  • Experience helping coordinate production from initial bids through data, print approval, and mailshop approval is preferred.
  • Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, and formatting skills in English as well as strong verbal communication and customer service skills. Bi-lingual language skills (especially English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Project coordination experience, and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Basic organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including issue identification and prioritization.
  • Basic project-coordination skills. Ability to achieve results with close supervision.
  • Experience successfully interacting with key stakeholders. Ability to collaborate and achieve results. Public contact and ability to work successfully in close proximity to others required.  
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion.

Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions required. Able to handle frequently changing and/or unscheduled tasks with accuracy.  
  • Proven ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and skill set essential.
  • Demonstrated success in assisting with outreach to and engagement of culturally diverse audiences and partners preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.  Experience utilizing online CRM systems required; familiarity with netForum by Abila preferred; Convio / Luminate a plus.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Bachelorís degree in a relevant field (or equivalent years of experience) required. Interest in and familiarity with historic preservation or related fields a plus.
